In this prequel to Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor, Meg and Alice, two maids from Maidenhead, crash their carriage outside of Windsor on their way to London, where they seek fame and fortune. In the three days they await carriage repairs, they meet clownish knaves, overbearing parents, and possible suitors who may unexpectedly change the course of their lives.
